Popular bridal retailer closes, some brides left without dresses

Thousands of brides-to-be around the country are without a wedding dress after the popular designer, Alfred Angelo closed more than 60 stores without notice.

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KTHV) -- Thousands of brides-to-be around the country are without a wedding dress after the popular designer, Alfred Angelo closed more than 60 stores without notice.

Customers got less than a day's notice to come get their dresses before the company goes out of business. If the brides didn't pick up their orders, they were out of luck.

Alfred Angelo filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, meaning it does not have to refund brides who haven't received their gowns.

Dresses that were ready will still ship to brides and bridesmaids.
Alfred Angelo wedding gowns are sold in stores in Benton, Russelville, Clarksville, Fort Smith, Springdale and Jonesboro.
