Russellville man arrested for internet stalking of child, sexual solicitation

FAULKNER CO., Ark. (KTHV) - The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office have arrested one man in connection to soliciting females for prostitution in an online ad.

Officers set up an undercover investigation on Monday after locating an online ad where 39-year-old Dereck L. Mitchell of Russellville was soliciting females for sex in exchange for money.

During conversations between Mitchell and the undercover police, he allegedly solicited sexual contact with an underage female in exchange for money or drugs. The undercover officers communicated with Mitchell through text messages and a mobile app.

A meeting location was arranged in Conway and when Mitchell arrived he was promptly arrested. Police found cash, a hotel key card, condoms, suspected marijuana, and a cell phone and collected it as evidence.

Mitchell has been charged with internet stalking of a child, possession of a controlled misdemeanor, and sexual solicitation.
