Staycations in Arkansas: Climbing Pinnacle Mountain

We continue our "Staycations in Arkansas" week with some ideas about climbing Pinnacle Mountain

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- We continue our "Staycations in Arkansas" week where we share some ideas for a fun vacation right in our own backyard.

If you have young kids, you know it's not always easy finding a combination of safety and adventure. But you don't have to drive far for an outdoor adventure your kids will remember.

Pinnacle Mountain is part of the Ouachita Mountain Range. Don’t let the name ‘mountain’ scare you. At about 1,000 feet, it's a third of the height of Arkansas' tallest mountain, Mount Magazine. But it's big enough and safe enough to challenge your family, pets included.

Pinnacle Mountain has two trails, an easier west side and more difficult east side. With kids, you'll want to stay on the west side and follow the yellow paint marks.

There are also trail markers one to ten to keep track of your progress.

Three tips: bring plenty of water for you and your pets, step carefully and enjoy the view.
