Prosecutors are arguing that 30-year-old Gary Dunn, a parolee living in the same apartment complex as Dirksmeyer, tried to sexually assault the 19-year-old. Dirksmeyer was found beaten and stabbed to death in her apartment in December 2005.

But Dunn's attorneys dispute that theory, noting that medical examiners found no evidence of rape. The defense is arguing that Dirksmeyer's boyfriend, Kevin Jones, is the real killer and that he staged the scene to make it look like a rape had occurred. A jury acquitted Jones of capital murder in 2007.

Russellville Police Detective Mark Frost testified Monday morning, the second week of Dunn's capital murder trial.
