In observance of Veteran's Day, the bridal salon, A Fitting Image, is giving away free designer wedding gowns to military brides.

After Brenda Torres and her fiancé were both deployed to Iraq, they realized they couldn't live without one another.

"We met in the military and I went to Balad and when I came back that's when he asked me and then about 2 months after that he went to Balad."

Thursday, Brenda and many other brides-to-be took part in a bridal gown giveaway providing military brides with a wedding gown free of charge.

Military bride Charissa Watkins also just returned from Iraq and is planning a small ceremony with friends and family. She says, "I've known him since I was 14, we grew up together. We separated, I moved out of state and when I came back we got back together. Now, we're on this experience together."

Charissa says she's proud to be a soldier. She says, "I joined in 2007 and loved it ever since. I went to Iraq last year and the experience over there was a learning experience. It was scary, but once I got over there I learned how they lived."

Charissa says it may be her military experience that helped when it came to picking the perfect gown. She says, "I'm the type of person if I like it I'm just going to go for it. If I look to long for anything else I'm going to change my mind."

Both women united by service and love for the men in their lives.
Brenda says it helps that her future husband is in the Air Force too. She says, "He understands everything I go through day in and day out, because he goes through the same thing."

A Fitting Image hopes to participate in another "Brides Across America" event in the spring.
