LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Little Rock police say the investigation is nearly complete into the shooting death of a man who attacked two Little Rock police officers after they walked through an open door into his apartment.
The shooting occurred at an apartment complex in south Little Rock while the officers were on a private duty patrol. Little Rock police spokesman Lt. Terry Hastings said Friday that the investigative file will be forwarded to Prosecutor Larry Jegley within a few days.
Jegley will decide whether any charges are warranted against Officer Donna Lesher and Detective Tabitha McCrillis. The officers saw that the door to 67-year-old Eugene Edward Ellison's apartment was open and the inside was in disarray. Police say the officers went in and asked Edwards if he was OK and he attacked them.
