Orem, UT (Sports Network) - Michael Moss converted a layup and a subsequent foul shot with two seconds remaining in order to seal the 72-70 win for the Houston Baptist Huskies over the NJIT Highlanders in the quarterfinals of the second annual Great West Conference Tournament at the UCCU Center.

Moss finished the day with a game-high 26 points for the seventh-seeded Huskies (5-25) as they won just their fifth game of the entire 2010-11 campaign. Moss, who shot 10-of-14 from the floor, added eight rebounds, six assists and three steals for the squad as well. Andrew Gonzalez accounted for 14 points, eight boards and five dishes, followed by Shawn Echols and Terry Bembry with 11 points apiece. Bembry also cleared a game-high nine rebounds off the bench.

The second-seeded Highlanders (15-15) were paced by Jheryl Wilson with 18 points and eight rebounds, Arjun Ohri 16 points, Lamar Kearse 13 and Isaiah Wilkerson 12 points on just 2-of-7 shooting from the floor.

NJIT led by as many as 12 points in the first half, shooting an impressive 51.6 percent from the floor and 8-of-16 behind the three-point line, en route to a 43-39 lead at the break.

In the second half the Highlanders saw their productivity from the floor dwindle to just six made field goals, allowing Houston Baptist to battle back and take the lead for good in the final seconds.

In a game that saw 12 ties and nine lead changes, the Huskies won the battle of the boards by a 39-29 margin.

With the victory Houston Baptist advances to the semifinals on Friday night and will tangle with the winner of the Texas-Pan American/North Dakota matchup.
