LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The director of the Arkansas lottery is to give his final update to legislators when the panel that oversees the lottery convenes.
The Lottery Oversight Committee is to meet Thursday to hear presentations on the financial health of the lottery and its outlook, as the gambling venture adds new games and updates some old ones.
Director Ernie Passailaigue announced his resignation last week, effective Oct. 7. He was hired in June 2009 and had the lottery selling tickets by that September. But Passailaigue was subsequently beset by a series of management problems.
Lottery Commission Chairman Dianne Lamberth says the panel's personnel committee is to meet Monday to set up search parameters for a new director. Passailaigue's top deputies remain on the job and Lamberth says she expects a smooth transition.
