HELENA WEST-HELENA, Ark. (KTHV) Just like many drug operations, at least one of the police officers was allegedly using code names. The indictment documents say Helena West-Helena officer Robert Rogers was using the name "Bam Bam." THV also found a newspaper article written about him last year and how he received the Purple Heart while serving in Iraq. He's also married and has four daughters.
Rogers and the other four officers were allegedly abusing their authority and helping smuggle drugs.
Officer Winston Dean Jackson is also a former Phillips County Deputy Sheriff. It's alleged he helped protect two drug dealers by getting their assault and drug trafficking charges dropped.
Since the U.S. Attorney's office used wiretaps, there's a conversation in these documents where Jackson is talking about the "good old boy system." He allegedly says, "if you don't roll with it, you get rolled over."
The other three officers charged are Sgt. Marlene Kalb, Robert Wahls, and Herman Eaton. They are all accused of taking $500 bribes here and there and conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
