SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - Today, Oct. 17, an arrest warrant was issued and served by the Sherwood Police Department, charging Carter Wilcoxson with capital murder in the death of Katherine Cleary. Wilcoxson has been in law enforcement custody since Aug. 23, on charges related to drug possession and parole violation.
During the investigation it was determined that Wilcoxson and the victim, Katherine Cleary, had become acquainted while Wilcoxson was doing work for a neighbor of Ms. Cleary. Carter Wilcoxson and Ms. Cleary's relationship continued after Wilcoxson was no longer working in the area.
The continuing investigation of Katherine Cleary's murder could result in other arrests and charges.
The Sherwood Police Department are not releasing the cause of death at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
Police have remained in contact with the family of Ms. Cleary during the course of the investigation and will continue to do so. The family's cooperation and understanding during such a difficult time for them has aided us in our ability to conduct this homicide investigation.
