LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A federal judge has denied bail to one of five police officers indicted in a wide-ranging investigation into drug trafficking and corruption in east Arkansas.
Herman Eaton, a Helena-West Helena officer, is accused of taking a $500 bribe to escort what he thought were drugs through the city. U.S. Magistrate Judge Joe Volpe on Thursday denied Eaton's request to be freed pending trial.
Other city police officers face similar charges.
Volpe has denied bond to two police officers, Robert "Bam Bam" Rogers and Robert Wahls. The remaining two, Marlene Kalb and Winston Dean Jackson, have waived their right to request bond immediately.
The five officers are among 70 people indicted in "Operation Delta Blues."
