Boy killed in Trumann house fire, 3 others injured

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- According to KAIT, out of Jonesboro, a 13-month-old boy has been killed, while three others have been injured in a house fire today in Trumann.

Police Chief Tony Rusher tells KAIT that one of the 13-month-old twins died from his injuries suffered in the fire. The other has been taken to La Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. KAIT reports that they do not have word on his condition at this time.

The story from KAIT says that a 3-year-old has also been injured in this fire and is being treated at the same Memphis hospital. His condition is unknown.

In addition, KAIT reports that a 17-year-old is being treated for smoke inhalation at a Jonesboro hospital.
Police tell KAIT that the teenager was babysitting the children when smoke began filling the house.

Witnesses tell the station that they broke the back window with a baseball bat after hearing that the children were trapped inside on a scanner. When the neighbors made it inside, the boys were unconscious in a bedroom.

KAIT reports that the fire cause damage inside the home, but no structural damage has been found. The fire department is continuing to investigate the cause of the incident.
