LOWELL, Ark. (KTHV) - A Florida man has been charged in the death of Lowell police chief Joe Landers. Authorities say Jimmy John Christo has been charged with DUI/manslaughter.
Our CBS affiliate KFSM reports that Christo, 52, is also charged with possession of marijuana and leaving the scene of a crash.
The hit-and-run incident happened on April 27 in Panama City Beach, Florida. Landers, 51, was at the beach for the Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally. He was a spectator.
Authorities say Christo allegedly pulled out in front of Landers' motorcycle without signaling. Landers was thrown from the bike and suffered many injuries. He later died at a Florida hospital.
