LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Family Council Action Committee plans to fight the medical marijuana ballot measure with a new campaign.
Thursday morning at 11 a.m., the Committee held a press conference in the Capitol rotunda.
The group formally launched their campaign to defeat Issue 5, the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act.

Family Council Action Committee President Jerry Cox discussed the statewide, grassroots campaign that's been in the works, unveiled the first television ad against Issue 5, and talked about what the future holds.
Recently, the Arkansas Supreme Court officially ruled the act was able to appear on the November ballot.
The group is using advertisements and passing out flyers to churches across the state. Director Jerry Cox says they are also working with other organizations.
"You may see individuals who represent law enforcement, individuals who represent the medical community, the business community, especially people who rent properties out," says director Jerry Cox.
But David Couch says there is a place for marijuana. Couch is an attorney for Arkansans for Compassionate Care.
"There are people who can benefit from it, but just like any other medicine there are people that might or could abuse the system. We set up the regulations in the proposal that would make it difficult and nearly impossible to abuse this product." Couch says marijuana could relieve the pain other side effects of people with 15 various conditions," says Couch.
