Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas' Attorney General, Dustin McDaniel, responded to news that Asa Hutchinson plans to run for governor in 2014.
Hutchinson, who formerly represented Arkansas in Congress and worked with the Dept. of Homeland Security, said Friday he plans to run as a Republican for the state's high seat.
McDaniel released the following statement in response to that announcement:
"I am excited about sharing my vision for education, infrastructure and economic development with my fellow Arkansans over the next 22 months. I expect a hard fought campaign regardless of who the Republican nominee is."
McDaniel is the only announced Democratic candidate for governor, while Hutchinson is the first Republican to go public with plans for the gubernatorial race.
