A clerk for Pope County Circuit Judge Bill Pearson says the trial of Gary William Dunn has been indefinitely postponed. Pearson has yet to file an order formally delaying Dunn's trial, but told prosecutors and defense lawyers on a conference call that it likely would be rescheduled for some time early next year.

Dunn is accused of killing Arkansas Tech student and beauty queen Nona Dirksmeyer. A jury in 2007 acquitted Dirksmeyer's boyfriend of the slaying and a special prosecutor later filed charges against Dunn, whose DNA allegedly was found at the scene of the crime.

Dunn has pleaded not guilty. He could face death or life in prison if convicted.
