OLA, Ark. (KTHV) - Early on Wednesday morning, a student came to Two Rivers High School with a gun in their possession. Once the administration became aware of the gun, they contacted police. Once police arrived the weapon was confiscated.
Yell County Sheriff's Department said the 17-year-old male was taken into custody without incident. Police said they found an unloaded .22 caliber handgun in the student's vehicle. The student claimed he was purchasing the gun from another student. There was no ammunition found with the weapon.
At this time, the investigation is still ongoing. No other arrests have been made so far.
The Two Rivers School District released a statement and said, "At no time were students in danger or taken out of their daily routine. Administration acted swiftly and accordingly because the safety of our students is our highest priority."
