Subway's Jared shares story with Little Rock students

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – The man famously known for losing weight and encouraging Americans to start "eating fresh" visited Arkansas Wednesday.

Jared Fogle lost more than 200 pounds after regularly eating sandwiches from the Subway fast food restaurant chains.

At Rockefeller Elementary, Fogle helped Arkansas' First Lady, Ginger Beebe, educate students on healthy eating habits. He says it helps for them to hear his story.

"Taking my story and the fact that a lot of these kids know me as "the Subway guy," but what they don't know is why I'm the Subway guy. So I share with them some of the mistakes I made starting at their age with all of the sedentary lifestyle habits."

The students, who are participating in Subway's Fresh Start Challenge, are asked to track their fruit, water and veggie intake for the six-week period.

The kids who complete the challenge will have a chance to win a $1,000 grant for their school.
