Three Arkansans killed in separate accidents

LITTLE ROCK, AR (KTHV) – A busy night for Arkansas State Police as they worked three separate accidents involving fatalities.

According to reports on the Arkansas State Police website, Arkansas State Police responded to Highway 65 North at Highway 159 in Chicot County at 8:50 p.m. Saturday. A Honda Shadow was traveling westbound on Highway 159 and was attempting to turn left onto Highway 65 North when it was struck by a Honda Accord traveling northbound on Highway 65. Mark W. Hopper, 51, of Monticello was killed in the accident.

Just after 9 p.m. Saturday Arkansas State Police responded to an accident involving a pedestrian. Charles Sheppard, 54, of Vilonia was killed when he was attempting to cross Highway 67/167 from the west to the east when he was struck by a Dodge Stratus traveling northbound.

Then just after midnight Arkansas State Police were called to Highway 225 north of Greers Ferry in Cleburne County. A Chevrolet Pickup was traveling southbound on Highway 225 at a high rate of speed when it struck a deer which was standing in the southbound lane, the vehicle ran of the right side of the Highway and rolled over. Anthony Joseph Aquilino, 20, of Higden was killed in the accident, three other passengers were in the vehicle. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
