Brighter Side: Good news this week

UNDATED (KTHV) – From a famous musician's visit to a boy with cancer to an abandoned dog's rags to riches tale, there are plenty of stories that are on the 'brighter side' of the news.

Taylor Swift sings and dances with sick boy

Jordan Lee Nickerson just got the surprise of his life. The 6-year-old, who is currently at Boston Children's Hospital undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia, was greeted by a very special guest over the weekend: his favorite singer in the world, Taylor Swift. In the video above, Swift and Jordan sing and dance together, the boy grinning widely and grooving to the beat. During her visit, Swift and Jordan, who has Williams syndrome -- a rare genetic disorder that results in developmental disabilities and cardiovascular problems -- also talked superheroes and played air hockey. "[Taylor Swift's] an amazing person that brightened our sunshine's day!" the boy's family wrote on Facebook.

Old dog rejected by owners finds fairy tale ending

A dog in Kansas escapes her new home and walks 30 miles back to the family who initially gave her up. But that family still didn't want her, and took the unwanted, aging Labrador retriever back to a shelter. Hopes for the dog named "Lady" to find a home were fading, and her time was running out. Her story ends like a fairy tale when she lands a home for life with a millionaire!

Commuters push train to free fellow passenger

Australian commuters tipped over a train to free a fellow passenger whose leg was trapped between the train and the platform. This happened at Stirling Station in Perth at about 8:05 a.m. Wednesday. Transperth staff and other fellow commuters coordinated the whole procedure, freeing the unnamed passenger in 10 minutes. Luckily for him it was rush hour, and a horde of fellow travelers were soon on hand to give the train a push and free his leg. Let's hope he got a free ticket.
