Easy school lunch ideas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Most kids look forward to recess and lunch at school. Deanna Fleming with Catering Creations is here with easy lunch ideas for your student.

One idea Deanna shared was a twist on a classic PB&J. Take a soft flour tortilla and cover it with peanut butter spead to the edge. Then put jelly in the middle and roll it up. Slice then pack!

Another use for the super soft tortillas is a "pizza-dilla". Take a tortilla, cover in marinara or pizza sauce, then add all your favorite toppings like pepperoni and mozzarella cheese, melt the cheese in the microwave, slice and pack!

Also an easy way to enjoy oranges is slice it almost all the way down the middle, but leave just a small piece still attached. That way your child can peel off a slice and enjoy.

Other easy ideas is fresh fruit and mozzarella cheese sticks. Also there is a wider variety of deli meats to enjoy like rotisserie chicken slices and mesquite turkey.

Always make sure you kids have enough calories to get them through the day. Also plan ahead snacks for any after school activities and sports.
