Today's Home: Creating the perfect garden

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - As the weather warms up, more and more of us are getting outside.

Whether you're entertaining or just relaxing, having a garden to enjoy is important.

In this week's edition of today's home, Chris Olsen says the sky's the limit when it comes to creating a garden.

The garden we are visiting today is very private. They built a structure the shape of an L. Itʼs basically a

five-foot fence built with old planks from old fences at a diagonal pattern so it has a real cool artistic look to it.

Then above they built this pergola, a very simple design with six inch by six inch timbers. What I love about it is they left this hole, or what I call a window so you can see the green arborvitae behind me.

These are Emerald Green Arborvitae and they add a nice little soft green so its not all Hardscape. Then they did a great patio out of antique brick which they put in the middle of sand. You could also do mortar if you like.

What is really awesome is this sitting area. All they did was take two pallets, cut them in half and stack them. They made the perfect outdoor table. How easy is that?

Donʼt forget when you have a garden you need to have the sound of water. They have this great aged fountain which is two tiers so it gives you a alot of sound and itʼs surrounded by simple landscape.

Then they even have another stepped up stage which is another sitting area, so they have utilized and taken advantage of all of the space here. Itʼs so functional but it looks so beautiful.

Remember, never limit yourself and let your imagination go and you too can have a yard like this.
