Tornado victims get a full day of pampering

FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Months after April's tornado tore through Central Arkansas, a beautification project is underway to help those communities come back together, but it's not one you might expect. Women in Faulkner County were treated to a day of pampering.

Designer Carol Anderson, based out of Los Angeles, sponsored a free day of designer shopping and pampering for tornado victims for a perfect change of pace.

It's been a long time since the people in Vilonia have been able to look back and say "today was easy," but on Sunday, that's exactly what they got to do. Stuck between the tough decision of endless massages and free designer clothes, many women were in their own fantasy-land.

For Jean Stapleton, her biggest predicament came when she had to decide between blush or bronzer, and she isn't alone in saying it was a nice change of priorities.

One of the twelve organizers there said the personal shopping day was just their way of lending a helping hand. The group is called Cabi, an L.A. Designer that donates millions each year to helping women recover from natural disasters across the country. This year that donation just happened to come in the form of $150,000 worth of free clothes and services; they also brought joy to the heart, letting everyone know that they'll be alright.

More than 150 women showed up to the event, with some volunteers making the trip from Oklahoma to help.
