Arkansas candidates officially enter statewide races

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Two candidates seeking the Arkansas secretary of state office and a Republican pursuing the state treasurer's position have officially entered a race for election.

Longtime election official Susan Inman, a Democrat, submitted her paperwork Tuesday to challenge Republican Secretary of State Mark Martin for the office. Martin, who was elected in 2010, formally entered his re-election bid later in the day.

Inman is a member of the state Board of Election Commissioners and the Pulaski County Election Commission.

Saline County Circuit Clerk Dennis Milligan, a Republican, also submitted his official bid for the state treasurer's office Tuesday. Another GOP member, state Rep. Duncan Baird, is expected to run. No Democrats have yet filed for the position.

Tuesday is the second day of the weeklong political filing period, which ends Monday.
