LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- The family of a man shot and killed by two Little Rock police officers is suing the police department and the city.
A lawsuit filed in Little Rock federal court Monday says officers Donna Lesher and Tabitha McCrillis used excessive force and conducted an unlawful search against 67-year-old Eugene Ellison. Authorities say the officers had to shoot Ellison after he attacked them when they entered his home last December.
But Mike Laux, an attorney for sons Troy and Spencer Ellison, says Eugene Ellison posed no threat and was shot unnecessarily. He says authorities violated Ellison's constitutional rights.
Laux accuses Little Rock police of not fully investigating the incident and ignoring other complaints about police brutality.
Police and a city spokesman did not immediately return phone messages seeking comment.
