LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Lance Turner of Arkansas Business was a special guest on "Today's THV at 6," to talk about the state of Arkansas' economy, which is looking pretty good.

The unemployment rate is at 7.6 percent, the lowest in three years. Retail sales are up and big companies like Caterpillar and Wellspun are adding jobs. Turner pointed out the diversity of Arkansas' economy is bolstering its economy and that the recession is in the rear view mirror.

But, are the people feeling better about the economy? On this, Turner was a bit more cautious. The change in overall mood has been slow to turn around. Gas prices have kept the lid on enthusiasm, and they continue to contribute to the negative mood.

Turner agreed, the numbers have become a political football, as Republican contenders try to unseat President Obama.
