LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) Heifer International started "Spring into Action" on Saturday. It's the organization's first multi-venue volunteer recruiting initiative in more than a dozen separate cities around the country.
Participants will learn about the organization's international work to alleviate poverty by providing animals to families.
"The goal is to get people to join our 'moovement', to join in our international call of action and transformation," said Pat Keay, National Community Volunteer Manager.
They will learn about how a goat or cow can be an asset or savings account for a family in Thailand. How they can use the milk to feed their children or sell at the local market.
Events will be held in 17 locations including Little Rock, Los Angeles and Sonoma Calif., Waterford, Conn., Atlanta, Ga, Lombard, Ill., Rockland, Watertown, Westbrook, Maine, Northampton, Townsend, Mass., Kansas City, Mo., Meriden, N.H., Manhasset, Snyder, N.Y., Arlington, Va., Seattle, Wash.
