MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in Baxter County say a 21-year-old woman is charged with misdemeanor child endangerment after an investigation into her 3-year-old son being attacked by a pit bull terrier.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says Amber Moody was released on $270 bond on Wednesday after she turned herself in.

The toddler was attacked on April 5 and needed emergency surgery at Arkansas Children's Hospital for wounds to his head and neck.

Authorities said at the time that Moody had filled out a pet adoption form with the Humane Society and said there were no children in the home. The Humane Society has a policy of not allowing pit bulls to be adopted by homes with children.

It wasn't clear whether Moody has an attorney. A hearing is set for June 21.
