LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Fire crews are working a brush fire off LaMarche Drive in west Little Rock.
LaMarche Drive is off Chenal Parkway. The Little Rock Fire Department is working the fire with four units and the West Pulaski Fire Department is headed to assist.
The fire department says no houses are being threatened right now, but it's very steep terrain and the wind is causing the fire to spread very quickly.
Little Rock police are asking people to stay away from Cantrell and Taylor Loop due to a power outage caused by the fire.
Little Rock police have 12 units on the scene of the fire which now spans 15 acres. Crews are on all four sides, fighting it.
Currently, residents in five to six homes have been notified of a possible evacuation. Firefighters tell Today's THV that if the wind changes, more residents in nearby subdivisions could be evacuated.
Authorities say smoke is the biggest threat at this time for nearby areas. There's a large amount of smoke, particularly near Taylor Loop.
Crews say they hope to have the fire contained this evening, but will be working well into tomorrow morning, putting out hot spots.
Police believe this fire may have been caused by a 19-year-old and three juveniles who allegedly caused a mailbox to blow apart in the Ferndale Cutoff area early Wednesday. Fireworks shot off by the same group started fires in the area as well.
