LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The 2012 Emmy Award nominations were announced Thursday morning and a documentary about the West Memphis 3 is listed as a nominee.

The film is nominated for "Exceptional Merit In Documentary
Filmmaking".

Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory is the final installment of the documentary series following the explosive case of Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin.

It started in 1993 with the murder of three boys. The bodies of Stevie Branch, Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers were found in a ditch in West Memphis. Echols, Misskelley and Baldwin were arrested as teenagers and all found guilty.

Echols was sentenced to death while Baldwin and Misskelley got life sentences.

This documentary follows up on the ending of the WM3 legal battle with the three men taking Alford pleas in August of 2011. Meaning, the men plead "no contest" while still maintaining their innocence.
