BELGRADE, Serbia (CNN) -- Around 100 Serbian brides ran through the streets of Belgrade on Sunday as they took part in an annual 150-meter dash in wedding gowns and running shoes.
The race, which is held every summer in the Serbian capital, only permits adult women to participate regardless of their marital status.
Despite the short distance, the wedding gowns added difficulty for the predominately young group of competitors in the race.
"It's the third year for the race with about 100 women participating. We want to show our enthusiasm for sports through this event," race organizer Zorica Jovanovic said.
Belgrade resident Sanja Cigoja was the first to cross the finishing line with an impressive winning time of 19 seconds.
It was said that the top three finishers would awarded prizes such as a free trip.
