UNDATED (CNN) -- An alien sitcom star from the 80's might be reading to make his film debut, and "Twilight" director Bill Condon addresses his two stars' off-screen drama.

"Alf" is coming to the big screen. According to "The Hollywood Reporter," Sony has inked a deal to acquire the rights to the late 1980's sitcom.

It plans to make a live action/CGI film about the lovable alien from the planet Melmac. Sony made a similar move in 2011 with "The Smurfs" which grossed about $560 million worldwide and spawned a sequel.

The director of the latest "Twilight" film hopes fans will see past the recent real-life drama involving the film's two leads.

Bill Condon told "Entertainment Weekly" it might not be such a bad thing if people are reminded that Kristin Stewart and Robert Pattinson are just playing parts. In real life, their relationship ended when she admitted cheating on him.

Condon said the two gave their hearts and souls to the "Twilight" movies, and deserve some respect when it comes to their off-camera lives.

A former star of "The Bachelorette" is a mom for the second time. Jen Schefft and her husband, Joe Waterman, welcomed their second daughter, Charlotte Grace, on Tuesday, according to "People.com."

Schefft was on "The Bachelor" in 2003, and the star of "The Bachelorette" two years later. She met her husband, a trader, on a blind date in 2008.
