FORT SMITH, Ark. (KTHV) -- Senator Pryor joined other members of Arkansas' Congressional delegation Tuesday in Fort Smith, hoping to save the 188th Fighter Wing.

People packed the Fort Smith Convention Center Tuesday night, trying to spare the base from budget cuts. A member of the Armed Services Committee toured the base today and listened as the community argued to save the unit.

People in Fort Smith, along with U.S. Senator John Boozman, want to keep the A-10s, known as the Flying Razorbacks, in Fort Smith.

"We have a great story to tell its so portent not only for the delegation but it's important for America it's a great facility," says Sen. Boozman.

Leaders say if the budget cuts go through it could cost 1.5 million people their jobs across the nation. Members of the 188th watched tonight's session from Afghanistan.
