BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - Lightning caused two church buildings to go up in flames this weekend, according to Bryant Fire Department Capt. Ryan McCormick.

A fire started at the Family Life Church, located at 21815 I-30 West, about 9:30 Saturday night.

The fire's cause was determined Monday morning. It took more than two dozen firefighters to control the fire, which wasn't fully extinguished until Sunday morning.

Despite the situation, the congregation met for church services at their regularly scheduled times on Sunday.

The buildings that housed the church offices and the youth center burned to the ground; the main building with the sanctuary was not affected.

Pastor Perry Black said there are already plans to rebuild what was lost.

"We'll keep going like nothing ever happened," he said, "and this time next year we will have a ribbon cutting ceremony with the most awesome teen facility in central Arkansas."

The buildings were empty when the fire started and no one was injured as a result of it.
