CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - A man in Conway is being investigated after allegedly beating dogs with a baseball bat.
According to Conway Police, a man running in his neighborhood heard loud dog cries and what sounded to be blunt force blows while jogging near a home on German Lane last Friday.
The neighbor claims seeing a man beating dogs in the head with a baseball bat. The runner then called police and the man accused of the beating, loaded the dogs in his truck and drove off. Conway Animal Welfare checked the scene and found blood on the property. Days later, when police confronted the man he told them he was not beating the dogs, but moving them to a different pen using a shovel.
"The witness was very adamant about what he saw. That this person was actually beating the dogs with a bat and that he could hear the blows from the street. He obviously did not want to approach because he felt like this person beating the dogs with a bat; he didn't know what he would do," says LaTresha Woodruff, Conway Police Public Information Officer.
THV spoke with the accusing neighbor and went to the house of the alleged dog abuser, but no one answered the door. We're not naming the man in question because the investigation is ongoing. Now an investigator will go through pictures of the scene to determine if the evidence is strong enough to press charges.
