PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) -- UAPB Golden Lions men's basketball team banned from postseason play, according to the NCAA.
The NCAA handed the UAPB men's basketball team a one year postseason ban Wednesday. Low scores on the Academic Progress Rate during the 2010-2011 season are to blame.
UAPB's APR is currently 885, 14 points lower than it was last year. The current NCAA minimum is 930.
Head Coach George Ivory says the low score came from an incorrect roster submitted to the NCAA. He also says, if correct, the school's APR would be well above 930.
The ban means the Golden Lions won't be able to compete in the SWAC or NCAA tournaments during the 2012-2013 season.
The Golden Lions won the SWAC in 2010.
