HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Volunteers will spend Saturday cleaning up Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River for the 43rd Annual Cleanup day.
The event takes place today, September 8 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Trash bags for the litter will be provided for all participants at the check-in stations. The Corps has made arrangements for contractors to pick up trash that volunteers collect from along the shoreline.
River volunteers are encouraged to bring bagged trash back to Lobo Landing to prevent it from scattering back down the river. Lobo Landing will also host a lunch for cleanup volunteers on the river.
The Greers Ferry Project Office will waive camping fees Sept. 7- 8 for individuals and groups participating in the cleanup. Registration at gatehouses is required.
A barbecue pork sandwich lunch with all the trimmings and soft drinks will be served from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to the first 600 volunteers at Narrows Park. Entertainment will also be provided.
