GREENWOOD, Ark. (AP) - A November trial has been scheduled for a Lavaca alderman charged with sexual indecency with a child and harassment.
A defense attorney entered not-guilty pleas Monday on behalf of 52-year-old Jack Woodrow James and waived formal arraignment. James faces felony and misdemeanor counts of sexual indecency with a child and misdemeanor harassment.
James was a social studies teacher at Lavaca Middle School and retired in May. Prosecutors claim that James asked several students to expose themselves to him.
The Southwest Times Record reports (http://is.gd/SLK5Ht) that James is scheduled for trial on the misdemeanor charges on Nov. 7. A preliminary hearing on the felony charge was set for the same day.
James was elected in 2010 as alderman for Ward 1 in Lavaca.
