JANESVILLE, WI (CBS/WISC) -- Water skiers from around the world are heading to Paul Ryan's hometown this weekend.
The Janesville Convention And Visitors Bureau estimates the inaugural world water ski show tournament will bring around $4.5 million to the area.
Teams from Australia, Belgium, Canada, China and team USA began practicing on the Rock River today.
They're anticipating 15,000 people each day will come to watch the action on the water. Executive director of the Janesville Convention and Visitors Bureau Christine Rebout says, "The great thing about an international event is they stay for a longer period of time, they are going to stay for a week or two weeks."
She says hotels in the area are nearing capacity. The opening ceremony kicks off Friday and tickets are $5 each.
