CABOT, Ark.(KTHV) - A K9 officer helped track down a burglary suspect in an Austin neighborhood Friday.

A press release from the Austin Police Dept. states that officers noticed a woman standing behind a vehicle parked in the driveway of 1255 E. Main Street, which was a newly-constructed home and empty. The woman told police her boyfriend went behind the house to find a tire. When officers checked the house, they noticed a window in the back damaged, a back door open, and fresh footprints leading away from the home. Police brought in K9 Officer "Lord" to assist them.

Lord tracked the suspect to another new construction home about two blocks away, at 109 Peach Street. The suspect, Jonathan Allen Montgomery Presley of Cabot, was found hiding under the back deck of the home. Officers told him to get out from under the deck, but they say he refused. When they tried to pull the suspect from his hiding spot, they say he resisted. Police say Presley continued resisting and started fighting the officers. During this time, the K9 Officer bit the suspect. Medical workers responded to the scene; they checked and released Presley.

Officers took him into custody and transported him to Lonoke County Sheriff's Detention Center. The 26-year-old is charged with residential burglary, fleeing, and resisting arrest and is held on a $10,000 bond. His girlfriend, Salina Parker of Cabot, was cited for criminal trespassing and released with a strict court date.

During the interview process, officers determined Presley is a suspect for stealing wire from a home in Greystone Community of Cabot. That information has been handed over to the Cabot Detectives for further investigation.
