FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport will receive a $19.5 million federal grant to rehabilitate the runway at the airport at Highfill.

Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor, Republican Sen. John Boozman and Republican Rep. Steve Womack announced grant Friday.

The lawmakers say the airport is seeing more traffic and the funds are needed to rehabilitate the airport's runway in order to accommodate an expected continuing increase in air traffic.

Airport Director Kelley Johnson says the runway project is expected to be complete by the end of next year.
