Firefighters and a plumbing service came to the rescue after a homeowner in Portland, Oregon heard a kitten crying through the walls of a basement. Using the plumbers' snake camera, rescuers found the kitten in a drainage pipe.
They couldn't reach the animal by digging, so they pumped air into one end of the pipe. After six hours of work, the kitten was finally freed. Firefighters say it was tired and hungry. They took it to the station to be cared for overnight, and named the little guy "Champ."
The Pittsburgh Zoo is celebrating a special delivery. Its black rhino, Azizi, gave birth to a female calf Saturday. She's doing well, and already weighs 50 pounds. The species is critically endangered, and this is the first black rhino born at the zoo in 45 years.
