FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - An Oklahoma judge has ordered a mental evaluation for one of two brothers charged in the murder of a Fort Smith woman.
A judge in Leflore County on Tuesday ordered the evaluation for Elvis Thacker, who is charged with first-degree murder with his brother Jonathen Thacker.
Prosecutors have charged the men with first-degree murder in the September 2010 death of 22-year-old Briana Ault, who was discovered in a pond near a Pocola cemetery.
Fort Smith television station KHBS reports that proceedings in the case have been halted until Elvis Thacker's mental evaluation is complete.
In Arkansas, the brothers have been convicted of rape and kidnapping in a separate case, as well as attempted murder of a police officer.
