RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Crossing in Russellville is a coffee house that gives a portion of its earnings to charities.

The Crossing in Russellville is a typical coffeehouse with a unique message, they give back a portion of their earnings to charities in Pope County

But here's the unique part--they allow their customers to decide where their money goes.

"We can choose which areas are closest to our hearts," says customer Rachel Williams. She finds the Crossing to be a place where she can enjoy both coffee and helping others.

The Crossing serves coffee, lunches, and pastries while some of the profits go to one of the charities on what they call the Giving Tree. For every specialty coffee, the Crossing gives back a dollar. For every sandwich, they give back 50 cents.

"I make a point to support it several times a week. If I'm going to eat out, this is typically the place I would choose to go," says Williams.

"Once the customers check out, the worker gives them play money. Then, they go to the Giving Tree and choose one of the charities by putting the money in a jar," says manager Billy Reeder.

The Crossing contributes to a wide variety of charities, including United Way, local food shelters, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

So far, Reeder says they've raised more than $3,000 since opening in April.
