Edwina Pipkins of Harriet, Ark. arrested for allegedly making, selling 'moonshine'

HARRIET, Ark. (KTHV) - A Searcy County woman is under arrest for allegedly having moonshine.

Sheriff Kenney Cassell says Edwina Pipkins of Harriet is charged with manufacture, possession, and transportation of illicitly distilled spirituous, vinous, or malt liquors (moonshine), a class D felony as well as sale, barter, or possession for sale or barter in a dry area (bootlegging).

On Oct. 1, authorities learned Pipkins had numerous gallons of untaxed liqour at her home in Harriet and was selling it.

Two undercover officers went to her home Oct. 3 to ask her about the moonshine. She told them it was $60 a gallon. She led them to a nearby building where she pulled out two gallons of "moonshine".

After the purchase was made, Pipkins was immediately arrested. When officers searched her property they found 41 gallons of "moonshine" valued at $3,000. Also seized where the items she used to make the liquor.
