CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Two University of Central Arkansas football players received honors from the Southland Conference this week.
Quarterback Wynrick Smothers and Jonathan Woodward on the defensive line received honorable mentions for their plays against Nicholls State University.
Smothers was named as honorable mention for the Offensive Player of the Week. Brian Bell from Sam Houston state took that honor. Woodward was named as honorable mention for Co-Defensive Player of the Week, which Jordan Piper of Nicholls State took.
Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
