Marion teen arrested for having knives at school

MARION, Ark. (KTHV) - Marion police say they have a teen student in custody for having knives on school campus.

Thursday afternoon just after noon, a 14-year-old student at the Marion Junior High School was apprehended by a school resource officer.

The officer was told the student was in the cafeteria area armed with a knife and in less than ten minutes, the student was found. Police say three kitchen knives were found on the student who was wearing a black trench coat, and had a sheet of paper with some type of drawings on the paper.

The teen was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of prohibited weapon on school property. The teen is being held by the Juvenile Authorities and scheduled to have a court hearing Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. in the Crittenden County Juvenile Court.
