BAUXITE, Ark. (AP) - The police chief of Bauxite has announced plans to resign. 

The Saline Courier reports that Police Chief Ron Parsons announced during a City Council meeting that he will resign on October 31st. Parsons said the decision is for personal reasons and recommended the council consider appointing Lieutenant Jamie Barlow as chief. 

Parsons was named to the part-time post of police chief in June 2011 and is also a full-time detective for the Saline County Sheriff's Office.
