POPLAR BLUFF, Missouri (CNN/KSDK) -- A five-year-old Missouri girl is safe after police say she was abducted by a registered sex offender.

The girl's mother awoke to discover the child missing from their Poplar Bluff home early Wednesday. Police issued an Amber Alert for the child.

Police arrested the 45 year-old suspect during a traffic stop about 10 miles from the child's home.

The girl's mother described the day's emotional ride. Eva Crawford says, "Scared and worried. I didn't know what my happen or anything. I 've been crying all morning. I'm just glad she came back safe to me and I just want to thank everybody."

The child is described to be in good condition. The alleged abductor is in police custody.
