HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (October 26, 2012) - The 704th Engineer Company (Route Clearance), U.S. Army Reserve, located in Hot Springs, AR will be conducting a military send-off ceremony on Sunday, November 4th, 2012 from 9a.m.-11 a.m. at the SPC Jonathan M. Cheatham Armed Forces Reserve Center. This event is not open to the general public, however all current Soldiers, families and invited guests are welcome to attend.

The 704th En Co is scheduled to deploy to Southwest Asia in 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The Soldiers of the unit are responsible for clearing roads of improvised explosive devices, training local counterparts and providing security for US, Coalition and Host Nation Forces.

The 704th En Co Soldiers scheduled to deploy have been training since February and have recently completed nearly two weeks of annual training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. These Soldiers will soon be traveling to Ft. Bliss, Texas for additional training prior to their deployment later this year. The training of this unit has been very successful and the 704th will have a highly skilled group of engineers ready for whatever missions they may be assigned.

The 704th En Co is located within the SPC Jonathan M. Cheatham AFRC and has an additional platoon located in Arkadelphia, Ark. While the deploying Soldiers are away, the rear detachment and subordinate 469th Engineer Platoon (Area Clearance) will continue to recruit and train highly skilled Soldiers while looking forward to the vast experience which will be gained upon the return of its Soldiers from theater.
